October 24 has been declared World Polio Day by Rotary International. See the resources and databases about the history of the disease and the fight against it available at FAU Libraries.

The International Open Access Week, observed from October 24 to 30, is dedicated to promoting Open Access and the various ways students, scholars, and educators utilize it for their teaching, learning, and research. Learn more about Open Access by attending these FAU Libraries webinars.

Can you tell a scary tale in just two sentences? We invite all the spooky storytellers to participate in our Two-Sentence Scary Story Contest for a chance to win the wireless Beats Studio Buds. All stories must be submitted before noon on October 31. One spooky submission per person. The judges will choose the scariest tale and announce the winner at the Wimberly Spooktacular Halloween, on Monday, October 31, at 2 pm, on Instagram Live.

Stop by the lobby for trick-o-treating, meet the scary librarians, win prizes for best costumes, and enjoy spooky crafts.

Scholars from across the U.S. are visiting FAU Libraries to conduct research in the Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection. 

Stop by the Wimberly Library Lobby on October 19 from 10 to 11 a.m. for doughnuts and coffee and to meet the new Dean of the FAU Libraries, Linda Golian-Lui. Free while it lasts. Bring your Owl Card.

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. In support of that, the FAU Libraries highlight some of the library resources that can help educate our community about domestic violence. This FAU Libraries POP-UP Library is a collection of print and electronic books, movies, databases, and online resources featuring LGBTQ characters and stories and exploring the history of LGBTQ activism and the fight for equality. 

FAU Libraries Banned Books Pop-Up Library offers an overview of banned books available in our collection and online resources on the cultural background of challenged books.
