Florida Atlantic's Class of 1973 recently paid a visit to the University Libraries while on the tour of the Boca Raton campus. The visit marked a special occasion, as they were on the cusp of being inducted into the esteemed Majestic Owls Society, a tradition initiated by the FAU Alumni Association in 2015 to honor graduates celebrating their 50-year anniversary.
During their visit, the alumni explored the Wimberly Library, took photos with the Owlsley exhibit showcasing the history of Florida Atlantic's beloved mascot, and had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Golian-Lui, the Dean of Libraries. The Dean discussed the library's role in preserving the university's history and strengthening its ties with alumni community.
The Owls especially enjoyed the display of yearbooks and student newspapers from their time at FAU, prepared by the Special Collections team. A particularly touching moment occurred when some of the alumni discovered themselves in the old issues of the newspapers.
The Class of 1973 is now set to join the Majestic Owls Society, a prestigious group that celebrates their lasting connection to Florida Atlantic. Their visit to the University Libraries was a reminder of the enduring bonds formed during their college days.
This tradition has grown into a beautiful celebration of FAU's history and the lasting connections that define the university experience. It emphasizes that the journey continues beyond graduation, unfolding with every visit and cherished memory shared among the Majestic Owls.
