Nya Craig, a student employee at Florida Atlantic University Libraries, has been a great asset to the External Relations team, and she might be a familiar face to you. Nya creates content for our social media platforms, engages with students, gives out library swag, and promotes all of the great things the Libraries have to offer. She is talented in all she does, and we are lucky to have her.
Nya will graduate in Fall 2023 with her degree in Marketing with a concentration in Advertising and a minor in Film Studies.
How long have you been a student employee at Florida Atlantic Libraries?
I have worked in the library since January 2023.
What is your role in the Library?
I am a marketing and event assistant at the External Relations Department. I help create social media content and organize events. You can often see me in the lobby, tabling for one of our campaigns. I also help with most of the designs and graphics, including digital signs you see on the big screens, posters and flyers for the events, and "Since You're Here" informational bulletins in the Library restrooms. Creating reels for the University Libraries Instagram is the most fun part of my job. I look for trends and music and often get to involve other students in our videos.
What do you enjoy about working at the Library?
I love working here because I get to learn so much - every day is different and I had a wonderful time connecting with students and staff. I like that I can use my creative freedom while also maintaining the University Library's brand. This is a very fun job!
What do you like to read?
I like to read comics and webcomics! Until I started working at the Library I did not know we actually have a great graphic novel collection.
What are some interesting facts about yourself?
I know how to play the trumpet and I am currently learning to play guitar. I am a freelance photographer and graphic designer.
