Dear colleagues, faculty, and staff,

As we celebrate National Library Week from April 23 to 29, we want to highlight the important role that University Libraries play in the success of our students and the university’s research endeavors.

The Libraries are an essential resource for the University's more than 30,000 undergraduate and graduate students. With the recent milestone of welcoming the largest freshman class in school history in 2022, the Libraries’ role in supporting academic success has become even more critical. The research has shown that students who take advantage of university libraries have higher GPAs and graduate faster than those who do not.

University Libraries serve students on all five campuses and are home to close to 4 million items in its collections. Wimberly Library in Boca Raton houses the Rubin & Cindy Gruber Sandbox, one of the few artificial intelligence labs in American academic libraries, as well as the Jaffe Center for Books Arts, Recorded Sound Archives, and Marvin and Sybil Weiner Spirit of America Collection of manuscripts and pamphlets dating back to the 16th century.

At Florida Atlantic, our Libraries offer a wide range of resources and services that support student success. From access to cutting-edge technology and specialized databases to research support and expert guidance from librarians, we are here to help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Libraries also provide a variety of spaces to accommodate diverse learning styles and preferences, from quiet study areas to collaborative workspaces and videoconference rooms.

As a student, faculty member, or researcher at Florida Atlantic, we encourage you to take advantage of all that the Libraries have to offer. Whether you're looking to improve your grades, accelerate your progress towards graduation, or enhance your research, the Libraries are here to help.

Florida Atlantic University Libraries are committed to providing a collaborative and supportive environment that encourages interdisciplinary research, scholarly communication, and knowledge creation. Our spaces and programs facilitate connections between researchers, foster innovation, and help advance University’s academic mission.

As Florida Atlantic continues on its path to becoming a leading research institution, our Libraries will continue to play a vital role in supporting the university's research and scholarly activities. We are proud to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and look forward to supporting our community’s academic endeavors.

This National Library Week, we invite you to visit us in person or online to explore our collections, attend a workshop or event, or simply find a quiet place to study or read.

Please join us this Wednesday, April 26, for the Spring Reception at the Jaffe Center for Book Arts. It is a great opportunity to join Libraries staff in this week’s activities while enjoying the current Jaffe exhibit and exploring the center’s collections.

Sincerely,

 Dean Golian Lui
