Free menstrual products are now available at all women's and gender-neutral restrooms at Wimberly Library.
A collaboration between FAU Libraries and Student Government, the program supplies 100% organic cotton tampons and pads for students. The products are provided by Aunt Flow, a certified WBENC women-owned company based in Columbus, Ohio.
Student Government funded the installation of the menstrual products dispensers and will cover the cost of the supplies.
The Dean of Libraries, Dr. Linda Golian-Lui, said providing free sanitary products to students is incredibly important because it supports equality and fights period stigma.
"We want to support our students in any way we can. Removing financial barriers when accessing menstrual products means anyone studying or working at the library can get them when necessary. This important program will positively affect the health and well-being of our community," Dean Golian-Lui added.
She said the Student Government continues to be a great partner to the Libraries. "We are happy to be able to work with them to introduce programs benefiting the student population," said Dean Golian-Lui.
