Dean Golian-Lui: FAU Libraries are here to help you be successful

Dear students,

I want to wish each of you a very happy New Year and welcome you back from the well-deserved winter break. For my family and me, our big New Year celebration comes with the Chinese New Year on January 22, when we will start the new lunar year of the rabbit. According to the traditions, the Year of the Rabbit is a more peaceful year with less stress, anger, and frustration than the current Year of the Tiger. I hope this is true for all of us in the FAU community and the FAU Libraries.

I hope you had a chance to rest, spend time with your families and loved ones, and reset. January is traditionally a time to set expectations and discuss hopes for the future. We have so much to look forward to this year.

This semester, we will continue to host engaging events for the students and other users of the FAU Libraries. This will give us a chance to meet you face-to-face and share news about our library services, collections, and programs.

I am happy to share that we will be taking Doughnuts with the Dean outside of the Wimberly Library, and I hope you will stop by to see me and enjoy some coffee and doughnuts on the Breezeway, at the dorms, and Jupiter Campus Library.

In addition, we are adding another monthly event in partnership with FAU Police Department. Wimberly PAWS, or Pet Away Worry and Stress. We will bring therapy dogs to the Wimberly Library each month and offer some relaxing activities like mindful coloring, puzzles, and table games.

FAU Libraries are excited to start another Spring Semester, and I want to assure you that we are here to help you be successful. We hope you always feel welcome in the Libraries, whether you need a quiet place to study and read, a collaboration space for your group, an opportunity to utilize some technology, a visit to our special collections, some advice for your research project, or help accessing scholarly content.

Best of luck, Owls. Your Future Awaits!
