Don't miss the new exhibit in Wimberly Library

Wimberly Library presents a new exhibit, “Between the Waves: Finding Ocean Curiosities,” curated by Victoria Thur, Assistant Dean for Research and Distinctive Collections, and Robert Feeney, Special Collections Assistant.

Located on the Fifth Floor, the exhibition is on display until May 11 and open Tuesday to Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Stop by the exhibit to browse an eclectic collection of shells, shark teeth, sea glass, and rare books from the Marvin & Sybil Weiner collection and artist books from Jaffe Center for Books Arts.

Oceans have always fascinated humans. The world's oceans are teeming with living plants and animals, artifacts that chronicle human interaction with the sea, and now unfortunately, pollution. Items such as sea glass and shells interest collectors and those who consider themselves beachcombers. Many of the shells on display are from Florida shores and represent only a small variety of the curiosities that lie between the waves.

The exhibit complements the 2023 World Water Day Lecture, The Sound of The Sea, featuring author and journalist Cynthia Barnett. The free lecture is hosted on Wednesday, March 22, from 3 to 5 p.m. on the Fifth Floor of Wimberly Library. Learn more and RSVP here.
