S.E. Wimberly Library Entry & Exit Policy

Effective Thursday August 15, 2019 at Noon, everyone entering the FAU Library, Boca Raton campus will be required to scan for entry and exit to the library. Persons affiliated with FAU and Palm Beach State College will use their Owl and Panther Card for this purpose; all others must register with the Service Desk to be issued a guest card with a barcode for their use. A valid government issued photo ID will be required to register.  (Visiting students with ID card are exempt). Non-FAU affiliated visitors will have access for a limited length of time where they will be required to re-register. Guest access confers no borrowing rights.  The Library reserve the right to restrict access to the Library during peak exam periods.

Non-FAU affiliated visitors will have access to the library during the following hours:

     Monday – Thursday: 8 am-9 pm

     Friday: 8 am-6 pm

     Saturday: 10:30 am-6 pm

     Sunday: Noon-9 pm

If you have forgotten your Owl or Panther card, please speak to the staff member at the Service Desk who will be able to allow you to enter the Library without your card. Library staff will check your details on our Library database before letting you through the barriers.

  • A maximum of 3 cardless entries will be allowed within an academic year. This will be recorded on our Library system. If you arrive at the Library on a 4th occasion without your ID card, you will be denied access to the building.
  • If you have lost your ID card or it has become damaged, you should report it to the Owl Card Center at Student Support Center.  A cardless entry will be possible if you have lost your ID card but please be aware that this entry will count towards your quota of 3.
