All members must be employed by FAU Libraries for at least one year and must be at the assistant university librarian level or higher. Additionally, there cannot be more than one assistant university librarian serving on the Committee at one time. In April of each year, the Promotion Committee identifies any vacancies and notifies the Chair of the Faculty Assembly to call for nominations, which can also be self-nominations. If there are two or more nominees for one opening, then the Faculty Assembly will hold elections to fill the vacancies on the Promotion Committee.

The Promotion Committee is responsible for implementing and updating the Promotion Guidelines, helping candidates to prepare their portfolios and answering any questions about the promotion process.
