Membership on the following committees is by nomination and faculty vote, or by appointment. It is essential to receive permission from your supervisor before contacting the individuals below. Library Faculty Assembly officer and committee appointments are based on a calendar year.

Library Faculty Assembly Officers (2017):

Libraries Promotion Committee:

According to the Promotion Guidelines, the Promotion Committee consists of four members, with each member serving a two-year term. All members must be employed by FAU Libraries for at least one year and must be at the assistant university librarian level or higher. Additionally, there cannot be more than one assistant university librarian serving on the Committee at one time. In April of each year, the Promotion Committee identifies any vacancies and notifies the Chair of the Faculty Assembly to call for nominations, which can also be self-nominations. If there are two or more nominees for one opening, then the Faculty Assembly will hold elections to fill the vacancies on the Promotion Committee.

The Promotion Committee is responsible for implementing the Promotion Guidelines and helping candidates to prepare their portfolios and answering any questions about the promotion process. The Committee is also responsible for advising the Dean of University Libraries by reviewing and making recommendations, either positive or negative, about specific promotions and the promotion process.

Libraries Promotion Criteria Committee:

The Task of the Promotion Criteria Committee is to work with the Promotion and Tenure Committee and the Provost's Office to keep updating the Libraries promotion documents, which are available on the web. We do this also by speaking to people that have undergone the promotion process and getting their input on what can be improved.  The term of service is two years.

NOTE: All members of the faculty shall be eligible for election as members of the UFS. Election to the UFS shall be for a two-year term, with half of the membership elected each year. Committee members shall be selected or elected near the end of spring semester and, except for members of the Steering Committee, assume office at the beginning of the fall semester.
