Join the Interprofessional Healthcare Book Club! This informal book club will meet semesterly to discuss a graphic novel focused on a healthcare topic from the patients’ perspective. This semester we will discuss Depression Part 1 and Depression Part 2 from the graphic novel Hyperbole and a Half: Unfortunate Situations, Flawed Coping Mechanisms, Mayhem, and Other Things That Happened by Allie Brosh. The first meeting is on November 29, from 12 to 12:45 p.m., on Zoom and at S.E. Wimberly Library, Room 136. 

A team of seven University Libraries staff and faculty members, led by Dean Linda Marie Golian-Lui joined the 17th annual “Keep Memories Alive” walk-in-the-mall fundraiser on November 5. Held at the Boca Town Center Mall, the Fundraising Walk benefits the Louis and Anne Greene Memory and Wellness Center of the Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University. The Boca Raton Tribune covered the walk and mentioned Dean Golian-Lui along with philanthropist Christine E. Lynn, College of Nursing Dean Safiya George, and Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer. 

Mark your calendars for Thursday, November 30, at 11 a.m. for the next Wimberly PAWS event. Stop by the Wimberly Library lobby to spend time with K9 Vallie, a therapy dog provided by FAU PD, and get tips on battling exam-related stress and anxiety from Owls Care services. Enjoy the crafts table with Vallie-themed coloring sheets and inspirational messages and take a moment to relax and de-stress.

Join us for the annual Wimberly Spooktacular event on Tuesday, October 31st, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Wimberly Library Lobby. Come dressed in your favorite costume and get ready to have scary good time. Enjoy a spooktacular array of games, delve into scary coloring pages, mingle with our eerie librarians, strike a pose in our scary photo booth, and don't forget to grab some candy along the way. We can't wait to celebrate Halloween with you!

Meet Michelle Keba Knecht, the Senior Medical Librarian at FAU's Schmidt College of Medicine. In her role, Michelle takes on the vital responsibility of managing the College of Medicine's library resources and plays a pivotal part in leading the evidence-based medicine curriculum as the co-director of the Life-Long Learning & Discovery thread. International Open Access Week is October 23 – 29, 2023, and is dedicated to promoting Open Access and the ways students, scholars, and educators can use it for their teaching, learning, and research. Learn more and see the upcoming webinars here. 

In a recent Bra Drive, University Libraries achieved an outstanding milestone by collecting 51 pounds of essential bras and shelter supplies. These supplies will be donated to the Young Women's Christian Association of Palm Beach County, an organization working tirelessly to eliminate racism and empower women and girls to enhance their quality of life.
