Media Center FAQs

Media Center Frequently Asked Questions
What are the hours of the Media Center?

Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm

Saturday and Sunday - Closed  Hours vary during semester breaks.

Who can check out materials?

Consult our Borrower Privileges page.  You can search the online catalog for circulating materials that are available to anyone with a valid Owl Card / library card.

Where can I get a list of your materials?

The Media Center's materials can be accessed by searching the FAU Libraries online catalog. Click on the Advanced Search button, then limit your search to materials in the Media Center by selecting "BR Media Center" from the drop down menu under Location.  You may search by Keyword (s), Author's Name, Title, or Subject. Click on an item's title to get more information about that item.

How long may I keep materials?

One week.

Can I renew my items online?

We do not permit online renewals of media items.  Our rationale for not allowing online renewals of media is based mainly on the fact that: a) our faculty expect that the instructional media for their program areas will be available for them to check out for classroom use and b) educational media typically cost quite a bit more that feature films, making them that much more expensive to replace if lost or damaged. Requiring renewals to be done in person provides the greatest access for everyone.

How do I obtain a audiovisual materials from the Jupiter campus library?

You can request audiovisual materials from Jupiter by submitting a request to the Interlibrary Loan Department. You will receive an e-mail when the items are available for you to check out from the Circulation Desk on the first floor.

Will you send materials to me if Im not on the Boca Raton campus?

Yes, the library uses a courier system to deliver materials to FAU campuses.

I'm a student and need to show something for a class presentation. Can I check it out?

You may check out circulating items yourself.
