Parrish possesses extensive experience in education, academic support, and library services, with a particular emphasis on student engagement, instructional support, and program development. He has held roles as an English Tutor at Houston Community College and as an Academic Library Assistant at North American University, where he provided research assistance, conducted instructional workshops, and led library outreach initiatives and events. Previously, he served as a Library Media Specialist for Spring ISD, focusing on improving library operations, integrating technology, and promoting student literacy and engagement.  

From 2017 to 2023, Parrish taught creative writing and theatre at KIPP Sharpstown College Preparatory School, where he expanded the fine arts program, directed annual productions, and received recognition for developing innovative student programs. He holds a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) from the University of Southern Mississippi (2025), a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Poetry from Warren Wilson College (2023), and a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with a minor in English Creative Writing from Georgia State University (2015). 

Parrish has received the 2025 Larry Levis Post-Graduate Award and the 2024 A Public Space Writing Fellowship. He has also been awarded fellowships from PEN America, Brooklyn Poets, Twelve Literary Arts, Cave Canem’s Starshine, and Clay, and received the Stars in the Classroom award from the Houston Texans. His poetry has been published in literary journals including POETRY, Callaloo, Electric Literature, Black Warrior Review, Indiana Review, Witness, Obsidian, Painted Bride Quarterly, and Hobart.
