Position Summary:
Florida Atlantic University is seeking 2 Senior Library Technical Assistants (PM Shift) – Boca Raton, FL.
Summary of Responsibilities:

Assists library users in person, via email or by phone during regularly scheduled hours.

Answers routine reference and directional questions; checking in and checking out materials; helps library visitors with computers, printers and copy machines.

Assists library users in locating library materials.
-
Respond to inquiries about the library's online resources, online databases, and related policies.

Operate library equipment including video surveillance system, security gates, computers, scanners, copiers, audiovisual equipment, collaboration equipment and printers.

Helps enforce library and University policies.

Maintain the physical collection by daily shelving and shelf-reading of an assigned section.

Assists in the library opening/closing routines.

Cross train in the Media Center and cross train in other departments as needed.

Participate in the setup of event rooms, areas, materials, and equipment for events held in the library.

Assists in maintaining a safe and respectful learning environment.

Conduct minor troubleshooting and maintenance tasks (i.e., loading paper and toner, clearing minor paper jams, loading microfilm, equipment connection issues, restarts, etc.).

Assists in the physical care of the library as needed.

Perform additional job-related duties as directed or required by the supervisor or circumstances.

As a member of FAU Libraries’ Access Services, and reporting directly to the Access Services Night Operations Supervisor, the Senior Library Technical Assistant assists library users in accessing library collections and assists with a wide range of Access Services’ projects and initiatives.

The Libraries offer multifaceted instructional services including workshops, research consultations, tutorials and webcasts as well as broad-based creative outreach programming that encourages student and public engagement. The Libraries maintain formal relationships with the State’s university and college libraries (through the Florida Academic Library Services Cooperative of the Florida Virtual Campus) and multi-type libraries in the region through the Southeast Florida Library Information Network (SEFLIN). The Libraries have an annual budget of approximately $8 million with over 90 faculty and staff to support its mission.
The Libraries have just completed a revision to their mission and strategic goals and are entering a new phase of implementation. Playing a leadership role in effective use of technology across the University, the main library has three open-use computer labs, a GIS lab, a virtual reality lab, and is about to open a multi-disciplinary artificial intelligence lab in conjunction with the Machine Perception and Cognitive Robotics Laboratory.
