Teaching Resources for Faculty

FAU faculty and instructors can utilize the following library resources into their courses, whether they are face-to-face, online, or hybrid.

Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) Framework for Information Literacy

The Framework integrates facets of learning theory and instructional design into higher education environments, and can be applied to all disciplines. See this Guide to read the full Framework and its uses in libraries and universities.

Canvas and the Library

See this guide to integrate all types of library and other information sources into your course Canvas page.

Creating Quality Library Research Assignments

This guide provides tips for creating assignments where students use library information sources.  The guide also gives pitfalls, examples, and suggestions for resources that support FAU's Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

Credo Instruct

A series of brief videos and tutorials that introduce students to topics related to using information for academic purposes.  Topics include getting started with research, sources of information, searching for information, evaluating information, presenting research and data, and citations and academic integrity.

Faculty can embed modules and self-grading quizzes into Canvas.  See the Credo Instruct Support Guide and Credo Instruct Companion Support Guide for additional information.

Curriculum Mapping

In this guide, faculty may view the basics of curriculum mapping and see examples from other universities.

Instructional Design and Student Learning Outcomes

This guide introduces some models of instructional design, and how they can converge with student learning outcomes and the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy.

Resources to Support Student Learning Outcomes

This guide provides links to library and other resources that support teaching the six student learning outcomes for the Distinction Through Discovery: Expanding Undergraduate Research and Inquiry Quality Enhancement Plan.

Video Tutorials

Brief videos that help with finding information, doing research, using library services, and creating citations.

Workshop recordings introduce using basic library services (Library Research 101) to specific topics (APA Boot Camp, Psychology Information Sources, and more).  Some workshops include a self-graded quiz where a Certificate of Completion will be given for earning 80% or better.
