The FAU Libraries seek a collaborative, innovative, and proactive Electronic Resources Librarian to manage the life cycle of the Libraries’ licensed and purchased electronic resources. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Collection Strategies and Discovery Services and working closely with the Electronic Resources Coordinator, the ideal candidate is dependable and flexible, detail-oriented, exhibits a strong work ethic, and effectively engages with Libraries and University colleagues, as well as externally with vendors and consortia members.

The Collection Management Department at FAU Libraries manages the selection, acquisitions, metadata description and processing, and deselection of general library electronic and print resources. We collaborate with all library units and departments to ensure the seamless access and discovery of these resources for FAU users.

Essential Functions

  • Manage the day-to-day life cycle of electronic resources, including licensing, activation, discovery, access, and maintenance.
  • Manage, review, and negotiate licenses to reach favorable pricing and licensing terms.
  • Activate new acquisitions in the knowledgebase and maintain linking to electronic resources.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot electronic resource access issues, provide expert support to ensure ongoing usability and accessibility.
  • Actively collaborate with Collection Management team members on emerging technologies, standards, and issues of electronic resource collection strategies.
  • Develop, document, recommend, and implement new approaches and workflows to the management of e-resources in order to facilitate the seamless delivery of information to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and report the usage data of electronic resources to help guide collection development and acquisitions decisions.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in all departments to provide a productive electronic resources environment for library users.
  • Assist in renewing and processing print serials, online journal packages, databases, e-book collections, and streaming media.
  • Work with the Collection Development Librarian in creating collections reports for academic and departmental accreditation and program proposals.
  • Serve as a liaison librarian in the Libraries’ academic liaison program.
  • Actively participate in library, university, and community activities as they relate to professional development goals.
  • Contribute to the library profession by investigating opportunities to carry out original research in areas of expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ALA-accredited Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in an academic or research library.
  • Demonstrates and supports a culture of diversity and inclusion.
  • Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively as a team member and team leader where consultation, flexibility, creativity, collaboration, and cooperation are essential.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff and community members.
  • Familiarity with managing electronic collections in an integrated library system, such as ExLibris Alma/Primo VE.
  • Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all backgrounds.
  • Evidence of excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of ability to use information technologies for effective communication and work productivity.
  • Demonstrated initiative and strong interpersonal skills with a high level of professionalism and exceptional work ethic.
  • Ability to analyze and adapt to change in an ever-evolving and rapidly growing institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting new ideas and implementing changes that improve efficiencies and promote positive project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning and contributing to the profession through peer-reviewed publications in librarianship, conference presentations at regional or national library-related conferences, or significant professional service.
  • Familiarity with e-resources standards and initiatives such as SUSHI, KBART, COUNTER, and OpenURL.
  • Experience working with consortia partners.
  • Familiarity with e-resources licensing procedures and contract negotiations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, effectively, and creatively to promote teamwork.
  • Ability to make decisions independently within the framework of the department’s and Libraries’ goals and policies.
  • Demonstrated skill in meeting deadlines, completing projects, and managing time efficiently.


Position is a non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant University Librarian on a 12-month contract with sustained high quality scholarship, research, and/or creative endeavors (as outlined in the FAU Libraries’ Promotion Guidelines: required for promotion.  Position salary range: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00.
